Major features

1. Stylus pressure is applied using a reliable and stable dynamic balance method

A dynamic balance tone arm is a system in which the arm's needle pressure is adjusted using a mainspring.

This structure allows the needle pressure to be maintained at a constant level even when the record is warped or there are vibrations around the player.

In addition, the stylus pressure scale is engraved so that it can be adjusted in 0.25g increments (from 0.5g onwards).

It is difficult to achieve 100% synchronization due to the unique characteristics of each spring, but our craftsmen, who have inherited the techniques from the founder and continue to this day,

carefully adjust and assemble each tone arm within a margin of error of 0.1g (0.2g for 3g and above), so you can use it with confidence.

These features enable stable tracking performance on the grooves of the record,

allowing for more delicate and accurate reading, thereby maximizing the appeal of MC cartridges.

This is achieved by IKEDA Sound Labs.' dynamic balance tonearm.

2. Inside force canceller uses a string system

When a record is played, an "inside force" is constantly acting on the tone arm, pulling it inward.

This can cause the vertical balance of the sound groove to be disrupted, increasing the likelihood of distortion and unstable positioning.

The mechanism for “canceling” these forces is called an anti-skating mechanism,

and IKEDA Sound Labs. tone arms use a string system for this mechanism.

The physically simple structure of string and weight allows

for optimal settings for various types of records.

Additionally, once properly set, the canceller automatically disengages upon playback completion,

preventing unnecessary lateral force when lifting the needle with the lifter.

3. The right materials in the right places

The IT-407CR1/IT-345CR1 uses brass as its main material, with stainless steel and damping rubber used locally.

First, from the center block of the tone arm through the shaft to the turntable (arm base),

the main material used in this tone arm is brass.

Brass is a material with a very high metallic density, which gives it the weight and rigidity that are essential for a tone arm.

Brass is also used for the weight shafts that support the counterweights.

However, we have taken measures to prevent partial resonance by using an appropriate amount of

damping rubber/rubber grease on the inside of the counterweight and inside the weight shaft.

The arm pipe is stainless steel, and the inner pipe is aluminum alloy.

The pipe end has a hybrid structure that combines brass with 3 different materials.

This design disperses and suppresses resonance peaks.

The lock nut and receptacle parts are made of stainless steel.

Both the IN and OUT contacts are rhodium plated to prevent contact failure.

The inner lead wire inside the arm uses a 4N copper-OFC (99.99% pure oxygen-free copper) conductor.

It is free of impurities and full of energy, bringing out the subtle nuances of information from low to high frequencies with higher resolution.

All stainless steel bearings are used in the bearing section.

The sensitivity in the up, down, left and right directions is a crucial part of the tone arm, so we adjust and assemble each one individually, checking them multiple times during production.

4. Round shape and the manufacturer's vision

The shape of the IKEDA Sound Labs. tone arm is very unique.

This round shape is packed with the design philosophy of the engineers who have been involved in IKEDA Sound Labs.

According to the founder

"Sound tends to accumulate in corners. This is especially evident in listening rooms, but the same can be said for tone arms."

"In order to move forward from the Fidelity-Research era, we designed it to have as few corners as possible."
